A Wataga man who was one of three people accused of throwing pieces of concrete and antifreeze at passing cars from an overpass earlier this year is the first of three to plead guilty in the case.
Knox County Court records indicate Mason Stone, 20, pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor count of Theft last week, and was sentenced to restitution, two years of court supervision, and 30 hours of community service.
Stone, Grant Oyler, Hayden Herschelman, both 19, had been arrested on several felony charges including Theft and Criminal Damage to Property, among others.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said in late-February the three had allegedly stolen the antifreeze from a nearby retailer, taking that and concrete to throw at cars travelling down U.S. 34 from an overpass at West Knox Road.
They allegedly did the same at cars passing on Interstate 74 below the Knox Road 2000 North overpass.
Deputies said multiple cars were damaged.
Herschelman is scheduled to enter a plea in court Wednesday, while Oyler is scheduled to be in court for a plea hearing October 29th.
