Lance D. Neilson

Lance D. Neilson

Lance D. Neilson, a hearty soul known for his love of life and indomitable spirit, passed away peacefully in Galesburg, Illinois, on October 16, 2024, at the age of 54. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 26, 1969, to Edna L. (Lindsey) and the late Donald F. Neilson.

In his professional journey, Lance’s strong work ethic was evident. He started in construction in his hometown of Chicago and shifted gears to become a well-respected over-the-road trucker before settling into local route trucking.

An avid lover of movies and music, Lance also cherished nature, often seen on walks with his beloved dog, Don, at his side. He loved taking care of his home. Despite being an instigator with a hardhead, Lance’s warm heart and penchant for having a good time were infectious.

Lance leaves behind a loving family: mother, Edna Rasmussen of Poplar Grove, Illinois; daughters Misty and Jerica Neilson both of Bradenton, Florida; siblings Clyde Franks of Greenback, Tennessee and Tina (Lenny) Anderson, III of Genoa, Illinois; his half-sister Tammy of Galesburg; and caring significant other Shari Becker of Galesburg.  His luminous presence will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by those whose lives he touched.

He joins in eternity his father Donald, and siblings Danny Franks, Tammy Franks, Sharon Milsaps, and Sheila Pauly.
