A Monmouth man whose first arrest came after a shooting at the 2018 Railroad Days festival is under arrest again — this time for seven felony and two misdemeanor drug and weapons charges.

Knox County Sheriffs Deputies say they arrested Latrell Patterson, 24, early Tuesday morning, during a traffic stop after they say methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, a scale, and a firearm reported stolen were found in his car near Saint Augustine.

Patterson made a first appearance in court Wednesday on a total of nine charges, ranging from Armed Violence to Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Judge Chad Long, under the state’s Pretrial Fairness Act, ordered Patterson’s continued detention in the Knox County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled November 13th.

Patterson was sentenced to prison in 2020 for a 2018 shooting at Galesburg’s Railroad Days — one where published reports say he took responsibility during sentencing.

In 2020, Patterson was charged in Warren County with Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and was sentenced to more time in prison.

Patterson then was sentenced to more prison time just two years ago after he pleaded guilty in another weapons case.
