Knoxville High School junior Alyssa Higgins earned all-state honors by placing 15th at the IHSA Class 1A State Girls Cross Country on Saturday at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
Higgins finished 15th with a school record time of 17:33.7. It was the Blue Bullets’ highest finisher since Breena Shreeves took ninth at the 2019 Class 1A state meet.
Elmwood/Brimfield took 10th place as a team in Class 1A girls with 336 points.
Elmwood/Brimfield captured the second-place trophy in the Class 1A boys finals, finishing 30 points behind first-time state champion Niles Northridge Prep.
