A new Goodwill that nearly triples the size of the current store in Galesburg will open Friday.
Customers can check out the new 15,000 square foot Goodwill retail store at 2200 N. Henderson St., starting at 9 a.m. Friday. Goodwill has been located at 1338 N. Henderson St. since 2006.
The new Galesburg Goodwill is the largest store in a two-building, multi-tenant retail center developed by Chicago-based Core Acquisitions. A new Chipotle Mexican Grill is set to open Thursday at 2210 N. Henderson St., while Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop is projected to open in late February 2025. Telecommunications communications company T-Mobile opened in late November.
“People have been waiting quite a while for the new store, so we’re excited to finally welcome people,” said Craig Armstrong, assistant director of communications for Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois.
“From kitchenwares to home goods to toys and of course tons and tons of clothing, there’s something for everyone.”
The increased space will allow the new Galesburg Goodwill to offer trailer and new goods buys. The larger facility also will provide staff more room to produce and recycle donated items.
The new store will employee between 30 and 40 people, nearly doubling the size of its current staff.
Hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
Armstrong said Goodwill will have a formal grand opening of the new Galesburg store in January.
