Sandra L. Mayfield, age 86 of Wataga, Illinois, died at 7 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at her home in Wataga, Illinois.
She was born on October 13, 1938, in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska the daughter of Rudolph and Mabel (Nelson) Anderson. She married D. Dale Mayfield on December 12, 1959, in Pine, Colorado.
Surviving is her husband, Dale Mayfield of Wataga, Illinois; one son, Kevin Lee (Trina) Mayfield of Altona, Illinois; one daughter, DeAnn Faye (Terry) England of Oneida, Illinois; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren with one expected to join the family in February. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Royce and Eugene Anderson, and a sister Dona Widner.
Sandra graduated with a Nursing Degree from St. Lukes Hospital in Denver Colorado. Her and Dale served as missionaries in Ecuador, South America for Berean Mission Inc. for 25 years and then they served in the home office of Biblical Ministries Worldwide in Georgia for a number of years. Sandy was the receptionist and was in charge of the mission’s guest house. Many people remember her vibrant and friendly personality as she sought to serve and make everyone feel welcome. She loved being with her family and serving wherever she was. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Altona, Illinois and was a great example of a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Altona, Illinois. Private family burial will be at a later date.
