One person was injured and a garage sustained significant damage from a fire Monday morning on West Berrien Street in Galesburg.
The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1086 W. Berrien St. at 11:10 a.m Monday. Upon arrival fire crews encountered a detached garage with heavy fire showing from a doorway.
Galesburg Fire Chief Randy Hovind said one individual was transported by Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Services to OSF St. Mary Medical Center where they were treated for injuries.
The garage sustained significant damage, estimated to be approximately $10,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Galesburg Fire Department investigators.
