Roger D. Saylor “Little Roger,” 69 of Abingdon, passed away on Monday February 10, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony Medical center, Rockford IL.
Roger was born on June 2, 1955, in Galesburg. He was the son of Robert and Ellen (Wadhams) Saylor. Surviving Roger are his daughter, Tabitha Saylor of Galva, bonus son, Micheal (Kattie) Stone of Texas. Grandchildren, Tyler, Mason, Charlie, Logan and Wade, also surviving are his brother Tracy (Jane) Saylor of Wataga, niece Alyssa (Peter) Wisnefsky, nephews Nicholas (Amanda) Burwell, Austin (Kanako) Woertz, many aunts and uncles. His best friends Todd Thompson of Abingdon, Todd’s daughter, Brooke Froelich of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents and best friends, Bill “Pete” Peterson and Angelo “Pud” Mangieri.
Roger graduated from ROVA schools in 1973, He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for BNSF Railroad, Mangieri Construction and Peterson Electric. He was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381 and volunteered for the FISH Food Pantry. He participated in pool and dart leagues and enjoyed being outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He was a calm quiet soul who loved his daughter and his cats.
