The Galesburg boys swimming and diving team qualified seven entries for state and won its third straight sectional championship Saturday at Pekin High School.

The Streaks dominated with 314 team points, outpacing runner-up Dunlap with 237 and Sterling with 190 in the 10-team field.

Advancing to the IHSA State Swimming & Diving Championships are:

  • Diving: Chace Parcel 385.15
  • 200 Medley Relay: Ryan Tapper, Travis Henry, Carson Olson and Anders Bergren 1:37.32.
  • 200 Individual Medley: Carson Olson 1:55.36.
  • 100 Butterfly: Carson Olson :50.27 (Team record)
  • 200 Free Relay: Ryan Tapper, Brayden McGuire, Nathan Nelson and Carson Olson 1:27.66.
  • 100 Backstroke: Ryan Tapper :55.59.
  • 400 Free Relay: Anders Bergren, Nathan Nelson, Ryan Tapper and Brayden McGuire 3:17.65.

 

Galesburg coach Ray Van Hootegem was named sectional Swimming Coach of the Year for the third straight season, while Tami Qualls was named Dive Coach of the Year.

The state meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the FMC Natatorium in Westmont.
