A fatal crash between a passenger car and a tractor-trailer claimed one life on U.S. 67 northbound near 185th Avenue in Monmouth on Thursday afternoon, according to Illinois State Police Troop 4.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:32 p.m. Thursday. Troopers responded to the scene, where preliminary findings indicate the driver of the passenger car was pronounced deceased. No further details about the driver or the cause of the crash were released as the investigation continues.
Northbound lanes of U.S. 67 were closed, with traffic diverted at 180th Avenue. Tow trucks arrived to clear the scene, and police say all lanes were reopened at approximately 8:49 p.m. Thursday.
