A Galesburg coatings supplier is merging with a Minnesota-based manufacturer of industrial paints and concrete coatings to expand their market reach.
Fenix Specialty Coatings, a maker of industrial paints and concrete coatings, announced Thursday that Galesburg’s National Coatings Inc., a supplier of high-performance coatings, is joining the Fenix family.
The merger combines Fenix and National Coatings’ resources to improve customer support through increased production, technical expertise, and geographic reach. By incorporating National Coatings’ experience and quality systems, Fenix aims to serve a wider range of industrial applications with improved efficiency and reliability.
“We are very excited to welcome National Coatings Inc (National Coatings) to the Fenix family,” said Todd Schroeder, CEO of Fenix Specialty Coatings. “National Coatings has a reputation for providing superior performance, quality and service. They have been a trusted partner for a strong base of customers in the general industrial and packaging markets for the last forty-five years.
“The addition of National Coatings bolsters the strong reputation and presence of Fenix (Sierra Coatings and TCI coatings) in the general industrial coatings market as well as adding new technology for packaging. We are thrilled to join forces with such a strong team, with a sterling reputation. Together we will have more resources and capabilities to provide even greater products, service and value to our customers.”
National Coatings, located at 604 US 150 E in Galesburg, has earned a strong reputation for delivering reliable, high-quality coating solutions tailored to specific industry needs, backed by advanced testing capabilities, and a team of seasoned technical experts.
“At National Coatings, we’ve always taken pride in delivering quality, reliability, and customer-focused innovation,” said James W. Hillhouse, founder of National Coatings Inc. “In Fenix, we’ve found a partner who shares that same vision and values.”
National Coatings President Jim Koval added, “Together, we offer greater capacity, more redundancy in our manufacturing and more resources to invest in the future. This next chapter is about moving forward together, combining our strengths to create even greater opportunities for our customers, our employees, and the industry.”
The companies say the outcome of the merger will result in:
- Continuity of service for existing National Coatings customers
- Expanded product offerings and custom development capabilities
- Strengthened technical service and formulation support
- Continued focus on regulatory compliance and environmental standards
Ken Springer, president of The Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development, said KCAP and the City of Galesburg team worked alongside National Coatings on annexation and facilitating a municipal water connection for the facility ahead of the changeover in ownership.
“Congratulations to Fenix Specialty Coatings and National Coatings for their successful merger,” Springer said. “We are excited to welcome Fenix to the Knox County Area and are pleased that the local facility will continue operations under the new parent company.”
