
Galesburg, Abingdon-Avon, United and Monmouth-Roseville all brought home hardware from the IHSA Boys State Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
In Class 2A, Galesburg’s Gilbert Lemus claimed the sixth-place medal in the shot put with a throw of 16.02 meters (52′ 6.75”). Monmouth-Roseville senior Dame Thioubou took 10th with a distance of 15.53 meters (50′ 11.25”). Andrew Kinsman of Benton won the gold with a throw of 18.12 meters (59′ 5.25”).
Monmouth-Roseville senior Jackson Thomas claimed 10th in the discus with a throw of 46.67 meters (153′ 1.25”). Ian Morris of Princeton finished first with a distance of 53.58 meters (175′ 9.5).

In Class 1A, Abingdon-Avon junior Carter Stroot claimed the fourth-place medal in the 200 meters with a time of 21.81 seconds. Stroot also took eighth in the 400 with a time of 50.25 seconds.
United sophomore Parker Tinkham took seventh in the high jump with a distance of 1.88 meters (6′ 2”).
