A Galesburg woman is facing Class X charges of aggravated arson.

The counts Jordan N. Larson faces allege that she knew people were present inside the house when she set it on fire.

Larson, 30, was arrested in connection with a structure fire that occurred on Sunday, May 25, at 835 S. Chambers St. The Galesburg Fire Department arrived to find smoke coming from the windows and rear of the one-and-a-half-story residence. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Three individuals told police they were with Larson inside the home before she was asked to leave for making a disturbance.

One of the individuals discovered the back door engulfed in flames shortly after hearing banging and Larson yelling, as they described.

When police later questioned Larson, she said she happened to be walking by the 835 S. Chambers St. address at the time of the fire, but did not set it.

Police reports note that when Larson was arrested, she was heard saying, “The voices told me to set it on fire.”

Larson appeared in court Monday, waiving her right to a preliminary hearing and pleading not guilty. Her next court date is scheduled for a pre-trial conference at 9 a.m. on July 7.
