Dayna L. Zimmerman, 78, of Appleton, died Sunday, June 29, 2025, at her home.
Dayna was born on November 17, 1946, in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Dayne and Mildred (Tinkham) Hopping. She married Ronald K. Zimmerman on November 1, 1964, at the First Christian Church of Knoxville. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Surviving Dayna are: her husband at home; children, Ronald “R.D.” (Lisa) Zimmerman of Knoxville, Donald (Christina) Zimmerman of Knoxville and Brian Zimmerman of Appleton; eight grandchildren, Erika (Mike Westman) Diaz of Knoxville, Olivia (Matt McCoy) Diaz of Knoxville, Ana Garcia of Sycamore, Tessa Zimmerman of Knoxville, Devan (Kaylee) Zimmerman of Gilson, Alleah Richard-Stone of Knoxville, Jacob Zimmerman and Justin Zimmerman both of Appleton; one great grandchild, Ruby Diaz of Knoxville and two great grandchildren on the way; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Judy K. Olin of Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Dakota Zimmerman, and brother Ronnie Tinkham.
When Dayna was not busy with her role as homemaker, she worked for Rug Beater Antiques, was a caregiver to the elderly and a bookkeeper for Zimmerman Trucking. She was a member of the Appleton Bunker Club; and volunteered for the Appleton Fire Department Breakfast. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, bird watching, cooking and loved her flowers. Most of all, Dayna loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Maxey Chapel Church 1754 Knox Road 1350E Knoxville, Illinois. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Appleton Fire Department, Maxey Chapel or Family.
