Edwin Allen “Nut” Johnson, age 68, of Dahinda, Illinois, died at 8:32 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his home.
He was born on January 13, 1957, at the former Saunder’s Hospital in Avon, Illinois, the son of Lloyd R. and Betty (Stancomb) Johnson. He attended Galesburg High School. He married Lisa Diane Derrick on December 7, 1983, in Estes Park, Colorado.
Surviving are his parents, Lloyd and Betty Johnson; his wife, Lisa Johnson of Dahinda, Illinois; three sons: Joshua (Pam) Johnson of Oquawka, Illinois, Logan (Chelsey) Johnson of Lafayette, Illinois, and Dylan (Kim) Johnson of Gilson, Illinois; four grandchildren: Tyler Johnson, Kynlie Johnson, Camden Johnson, and Carter Stroot; Five brothers: Jeff Johnson of Galesburg, Illinois, Ray Johnson of Oquawka, Illinois, Ralph “Tigger” (Helen) Johnson of Galesburg, Illinois, Rodney “Cat” (Brandie) Johnson of Oquawka, Illinois, and Daniel (Heather) Johnson of Galesburg, Illinois; two sisters, Julie (Toby) Wall of Galesburg, Illinois, and Sheila (Mark) Lamb of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a brother, Doug “Lucky” Johnson; a nephew, Dakota Johnson; and a niece, Tracy Johnson.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a welder for over 20 years. He was a member of the Maintenance of Way Union of Welders. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved being around his boys and his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, making homemade gifts for his family, and hosting Halloween parties with hayrack rides and cookouts. He was his own mechanic and liked watching NASCAR.
A celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home, 1450 Knox Road 1600E, Dahinda, Illinois. Memorials may be made to his family.
