One person was rescued and transported to a local hospital as the result of a structure fire in Monmouth on Saturday morning.
The Monmouth Fire Department responded to a call at 9:41 a.m. Saturday at 1033 E. 8th Ave., where they encountered moderate smoke and possible entrapment.
Firefighters quickly entered the residence under high heat and limited visibility, located one victim, and safely removed them. The victim was transported by Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service to OSF Holy Family Medical Center.
Crews extinguished the fire and conducted a secondary search to ensure no other victims remained.
The response included support from the Central Warren Fire Protection District, RSP&E Fire Protection District, Warren County 911 Dispatch, Monmouth Police Department, and Ameren.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
