Charlotte E. May, 84, of Galesburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Charlotte was born on July 6, 1940, in Centerville, Iowa. She was the daughter of William Roy and Lily Mae (Herr) Brackett. She married Roy Dale May, Sr. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on February 28, 2012. Charlotte is survived by children, Roy May, Jr. of Houston, Tx, Joy Kay (Richard) Morris of Knoxville, Mary Underwood of Bay Town, Tx, Michael (Lucy) May of St. Pedro, Ca; a sister, Mary; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughters, Robin Lamb and Christine Jacobs; son, Dale Roy May III; seven siblings; and a great grandson, Dakota.
Charlotte worked at Maytag, where she was a fork-lift operator. She retired after 32 ½ years of service. She enjoyed gardening and working on the farm.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be 1 p.m., on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Pacific Lodge 66, 157 North Public Square, Knoxville, IL. Arrangements have been entrusted with Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville. Memorials may be made to Roy Lamb.
