State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) officially launched his re-election campaign for the 71st State House District in the Illinois House of Representatives. A farmer and 30-year military veteran, Swanson emphasized his commitment to fighting for Western Illinois families, veterans, and fiscal responsibility.

“I have stood strong in opposing budgets that include pay hikes for politicians and overspending,” Swanson said. “Illinois families deserve safe communities, educational freedom, and a state government free from corruption. Taxpayers don’t need the tax-and-spend attitude of many Chicago politicians.”

Swanson highlighted his legislative record, including passing bills to improve veterans’ services, expand rural healthcare access, reduce family costs, and support family farmers. As the only Republican Committee Chair in the Illinois House, leading the Veterans Affairs Committee, he expressed pride in earning bipartisan trust to serve veterans.

The 71st District, encompassing the Quad Cities, parts of Henry and Mercer Counties, Galesburg, Monmouth, and Macomb, includes Western Illinois University and several community colleges.

“This is no time for on-the-job training,” Swanson said. “Hardworking families need a fighter. I’m running because there’s more work to do, and it takes someone Swanson Strong to get it done.”

Swanson, who helps operate his family’s 6th-generation farm near Andover, lives with his wife Tammy and attends Alpha Baptist Church.
