Free books for teachers at Galesburg Goodwill this summer

Goodwill

Teachers in the Galesburg area and across Central Illinois can stock up on classroom reading materials at no cost, thanks to a Goodwill of Central Illinois initiative running from July 26 through August 25.

The program allows educators to fill a shopping bag with free books at participating Goodwill stores, including the Galesburg location at 2250 N. Henderson St.

To take advantage of the offer, teachers need only present a valid school ID to verify their educator status. They can either purchase a shopping bag at the store or bring their own to fill with books.

“This is something we love doing,” said Susan Walker, Goodwill’s Director of Retail and Operations. “We have a supply of books, and what better way to put them to good use than by our teachers.”

The initiative spans Goodwill’s 21-county territory, supporting educators as they prepare for the upcoming school year. For a full list of participating stores, visit goodwillpeo.org.
