Joyce E. Dahl, 77, of Galesburg passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Seminary Manor Galesburg.
Joyce was born on October 19, 1947, in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Rolland and Dorothy (Brown) Hatch. Joyce married the love of her life, Jerry Dahl, on August 19, 1967, at the Victoria United Methodist Church. Together, Jerry and Joyce celebrated 57 years of marriage. Surviving Joyce are her loving husband, daughter, Amanda Dahl of Galesburg; brother, Warren Hatch of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Brenda Coffey.
Joyce was a 1965 graduate of ROVA High School. Not only was she a superb domestic engineer and fabulous homemaker, but she also worked in the circulation department of the Galesburg Register-Mail and as a secretary for Dahl Real Estate. Joyce had a special love for God and her family. She loved gardening and watching the butterflies. She would always be found singing and dancing while cleaning and could cook an eight-course country meal with perfect timing on every dish. Joyce was soft and sensitive, very loving and nurturing. She was very feminine and “dainty”, hilarious, and most of all honest and loyal. The loss of Joyce is hard and painful and will be felt for the rest of this life…Until we meet again in the next life, we know she will be watching over us.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Knoxville Cemetery. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements.
