Graham Health System has officially broken ground on a $5.1 million ambulatory surgery center in Galesburg.
Located at 2028 N. Seminary St., the project brings an additional $1.5 million investment in technology, marking a significant step toward expanding healthcare access in the region.
The new facility will feature two operating rooms and 15 pre- and post-surgical bays, offering outpatient services including General Surgery, GI, OB/GYN, Pain Management, ENT (Adult & Pediatric), Urology, Family Planning, Vascular, and Podiatry—many of which have been unavailable locally since Cottage Hospital closed in 2022. The center aims to reverse a 65% drop in outpatient procedures since 2013, keeping care in Galesburg.
“We’re not just breaking ground on another building,” said Bob Senneff, CEO of Graham Health System. “We’re building a stronger, healthier community and a brighter future for Galesburg and all of Knox County.”
As one of Illinois’ last independent rural health systems, Graham entered the Galesburg market in 2022, opening four clinics, including one on the underserved south side, serving over 12,200 patients across 315 zip codes with nearly 45,000 visits.
The ASC will accept all payors, including Medicare and Medicaid, catering to the 38% of residents on public insurance, and is projected to perform over 1,900 procedures in its first year. With CRNA coverage and ongoing recruitment for an anesthesiologist, the center is slated to open by September 2026, supported by a new imaging center and endoscopy suite.
