
A popular dentist for over 45 years in Galesburg, who practiced alongside his father and brother, has died.
Dr. John “Jack” Walter Pacey, a lifelong resident of Galesburg and Dahinda, died Aug. 1, 2025, in Broomfield, Colorado, surrounded by family. He was 94.
Pacey served generations of patients at the Pacey family’s dental office on North Henderson Street from 1959 to 2005. According to family, Jack Pacey was known for his professional skill, gentle demeanor, and warm smile.
His brother Dr. Frederick (Fred) Pacey of Galesburg died on April 3, 2025. He was 92.

Born April 27, 1931, to Dr. Walter and Marian Pacey, Jack graduated from Galesburg High School, attended Knox College, and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Northwestern University in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1955 to 1957. Jack married Rebecca “Becky” Ueland in 1955; she preceded him in death in 1987. He was also preceded by his parents, sister Joann Boydstun, brother Dr. Fred Pacey, and son Jay Pacey.

An exceptional student-athlete and avid sailor, he cherished boating and camping at Bayfield, Wisconsin, Galveston Bay, Texas, and Oak Run, Illinois, where he built the community’s first house in 1972.
Jack Pacey is survived by sons John Craig Pacey of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Kris Ueland Pacey of Westminster, Colorado, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Oak Run at a later date.
