The Monmouth City Council approved a Citizens Lake OSLAD Grant application on Monday, featuring a new 1,500-foot ADA-compliant pedestrian trail, a key enhancement for community recreation.
The $250,000 project also includes eight educational signs on native flora and fauna, four to six birdhouses, three to four shade trees, and three benches, with community support through planned August 2025 public hearings and letters from local organizations.
The Council also approved redevelopment agreements with EKS Futures, LLC: $100,000 for 413 S. Main St. (commercial use, up to $100,000 TIF reimbursement) and $140,000 for 409 S. 1st St. (office space, up to $140,000 TIF reimbursement), both utilizing 92% of tax increments from TIF funds.
Additional actions included forming an Arbor Committee via ordinance draft and accepting demolition bids of $4,550 for 120 E. 9th Ave. and $13,925 for 416 E. Franklin Ave.
