
A 17-year veteran of the Galesburg Police Department will serve as its deputy chief.
Ryne Sage, who most recently served as patrol lieutenant, was sworn in as deputy chief on July 28. With more than 17 years of service, Sage has advanced through multiple roles, bringing a diverse skill set in patrol, investigations, and leadership to his new position.
Sage’s career began as a patrol officer in March 2008, progressing to investigator in September 2019, patrol sergeant in September 2020, and patrol lieutenant in January 2023 before his recent appointment.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University, earned in December 2012. His certifications include Basic Law Enforcement from the University of Illinois Police Training Institute, Crisis/Hostage Negotiator I, TASER Instructor, REID Interviewing and Interrogation, Lead Homicide Investigator, F.E.M.A. Incident Command System (levels 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800), Field Training Officer, and Adaptive Field Training Officer.
