Two suspects arrested after violent robbery in Abingdon residence

Two suspects are in custody after allegedly robbing and assaulting a person in an Abingdon residence Monday night.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery in progress at approximately 7:12 p.m. on Jared Street. Deputies found the victim, who had sustained facial fractures and broken ribs, and he was transported to OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg for treatment.

Using witness statements, neighborhood security footage, and bar surveillance video, deputies identified the suspects as Anthony J. Williams, 48, and Mandy L. Bailey, 49, both of Galesburg. The pair fled in a red vehicle but were apprehended in Galesburg without incident.

Williams and Bailey face charges of armed robbery, home invasion, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and possession of a controlled substance. They remain in Knox County Jail pending court proceedings.
