Galesburg garage fire leaves resident injured

A resident suffered burns and smoke inhalation as the result of a garage fire on Willard Street on Saturday night.

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to the blaze at 1357 Willard St. at 11:12 p.m., deploying all three fire stations and 11 personnel to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a detached garage engulfed in heavy flames and smoke. Crews from the Fremont Street station quickly deployed an attack hose line to extinguish the fire. The resident was treated on-site by Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service for a burn to his leg and smoke inhalation. No injuries to fire personnel were reported.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
