McGeehon, Clayton

Clayton Jesse McGeehon, 60, of Galesburg, died Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his home. 

He was born to Jesse Clifford and June Darlene (Judd) McGeehon on September 13, 1965, in La Harpe, Illinois. Clayton was reared and educated in La Harpe. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1985 to 1990. Clayton married Stacy Strickland on February 29, 1996, in Mesa, Arizona, they later divorced but remained friends. 

Left to cherish his memory are three sons: Johnathon, Matthew, and Brandon (Naomi) McGeehon of Mesa, Arizona; one grandson, Axell; two step granddaughters: Ellie and Ava; his caregiver and special friend, JoAn Naija of Galesburg; two step brothers: Bill Keever of Nashville, Illinois and Douglas Gaylord of Burlington, Iowa; one step sister, Christine Cline of Burlington, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clifford McGeehon; and two sisters: Alice Ann McGeehon and Dorothy June McGeehon. 

Clayton worked as an automotive mechanic for Bruce Foote Chevrolet in Monmouth for many years until he retired. He had a passion for working on cars, not only as his job but as a hobby. Clayton also enjoyed shooting pool and listening to his oldies. Most of all, his pride and joy were his son and grandson, Axell. 

Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Galesburg. Donations in memory of Clayton may be made to Watson Thomas Funeral Home. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
