Lila J. Carlson-Fears, 97, of Roseville, Illinois, passed away at 3:20 p.m., Tuesday September 23, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was born October 14, 1927, in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Marie (Haak) Wicks. She was raised and educated in Rozetta, graduating from Rozetta High School in 1945.
She married John Carlson on February 16, 1947, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1999. She later married Richard Fears on October 29, 2007, in Smithshire and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2019.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; David Carlson of Roseville,Illinois, Rodney Carlson of Monmouth, Illinois, Carol (Ed) Bishop of Tempe, Arizona, and Cheryl Armstrong of Monmouth, Illinois; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Lila worked as a beautician for Caldwell’s in Monmouth and later as a veterinary assistant for 15 years in southern California. She then worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Chowpaknam and Dr. Sum Park at Community Memorial Hospital.
Lila enjoyed reading, cooking, and raising cats and dogs. She also loved to travel.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the funeral home. A time of visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Ellison Cemetery, Smithshire, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice and left in the care of the funeral home.
