Knox County to accept bids for tax deed sale. Here’s how it works

courthouse

Knox County, as Trustee, will accept bids for a tax deed sale of approximately 76 properties delinquent for 2022 and prior real estate taxes, with submissions due no later than the close of business on Oct. 24.

Sealed written bids must be delivered to the Knox County Treasurer’s Office at the Knox County Courthouse, 200 S. Cherry St., Galesburg, Illinois 61401, while online bids can be submitted via www.iltaxsale.com by the same deadline.

The sale aims to benefit both Taxing Districts and neighboring property owners. The County, as Trustee, hopes new owners will maintain the properties and pay real estate taxes, enhancing neighborhood appearance and increasing the value of adjoining properties.

The minimum bid is set at $832 per item, with all items sold to the highest sealed bid received by Oct. 24, 2025. Bidder’s packets and sale catalogs are available at the Knox County Treasurer’s Office or online at www.iltaxsale.com.

For more information, contact the Auction Sale Department of the Knox County Tax Agent’s Office at (800) 248-2850 or (618) 656-5744, or visit www.iltaxsale.com. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
