The City of Galesburg will see temporary road and railroad crossing closures starting Monday, Oct. 13, for infrastructure improvements, city officials announced.
The Galesburg Sanitary District will begin a sanitary sewer extension project on North West Street, between Fremont and Sanborn streets, at 7 a.m. Monday, weather permitting. The project is expected to wrap up by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Motorists should expect delays, exercise caution in the work zone, and allow extra travel time. The southbound lane may remain open during non-working hours, from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., if feasible.
Separately, BNSF Railway will repair railroad crossings on Chambers and Prairie streets, closing both from 6 a.m. on Monday through 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, weather permitting. Drivers are urged to use alternative routes and follow posted detour signs.
