Mrs. Norma Joanne Hallock, 79, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 6:48 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Seminary Manor Nursing Home in Galesburg.
She was born on December 6, 1945, to Norman and Margaret (Meixner) Talley in Indianapolis, Indiana. She married Rev. Terry J. Hallock on November 29, 1974, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Tara (and Michael) Rodman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Gretchen (and Vincent) Gonzalez of Galesburg, and five grandchildren, Abby Gonzalez, Allie Rodman, Caleb Rodman, Jacob Gonzalez, and Kelsey Rodman. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Douglas Talley.
Norma graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1963. When she was just out of high school, she worked as a secretary for the American United Life Insurance Company in Indianapolis. She was also a secretary for the Indiana Farm Bureau and the F.B.I. office in Indianapolis. Her most important job after that was being a stay-at-home mother. She was a member of the Wataga Congregational Church, Wataga, Illinois where her husband, Rev. Terry Hallock, was the minister for several years. She was very active with her church and knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed singing in the choir, listening to music, window shopping, going to Scenic Drive yearly, and attending classic car shows. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She especially loved being a grandma.
Cremation will be accorded. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the chapel. A committal service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Science Ridge Cemetery in Sterling, Illinois.
