Former Alexis village clerk faces felony charges for theft, forgery

The Warren County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges against the former village clerk of Alexis, accusing her of stealing tens of thousands of dollars in public funds and forging documents over several years.

Jenny McKeown faces two felony counts: theft of government property and forgery. Court documents obtained by WGIL allege she took more than $10,000 but less than $100,000 from the Village of Alexis between 2022 and 2025. The forgery charge relates to misconduct during that same period.

Village officials have not commented on McKeown’s departure earlier this year from the appointed clerk position or provided details on how the discrepancies were discovered.

McKeown, 45, of Alexis, is scheduled for arraignment in Warren County Circuit Court next month.
