
A 29-year-old Galesburg man has been charged with first-degree murder following the discovery of a deceased woman outside a residence Sunday on North Soangetaha Road.
According to a new release from the Galesburg Police Department, officers responded to 30 N. Soangetaha Road around 12:32 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, for a well-being check. Upon arrival, they found a female victim outside the home with apparent blunt force trauma to her body. No other individuals were located inside or around the property at the time.
The scene was processed by Galesburg police investigators and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit. The victim’s identity and official cause of death remain pending autopsy results.
Less than 24 hours later, at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, officers returned to the same address and located David L. Nicholson Klingerman Jr., 29. He was initially taken into custody as a person of interest before being formally arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
