Ms. Elizabethe M. Rigdon (Simmons), 48, of Kirkwood, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025.
She was born on May 28, 1977, in Galesburg, Illinois, to her mother Lucynda Rodriguez. She married Todd Rigdon in August of 1996 and through their union had her beloved daughter Taylor Rigdon. They divorced in 2000.
Elizabethe is survived by her daughter, Taylor, her mother, and two sisters, Angela Simmons and Amanda West.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1996 and later attended Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, and completed general education classes. She went on to work at Christie Medical Clinic in Champaign and later spent her life on the road, working as a bus driver for Trailways and most recently earning her CDL license and working as a truck driver. Elizabethe enjoyed the outdoors, such as fishing, camping, and going on walks. She also loved the fall season and enjoyed watching as the leaves changed to beautiful shades of reds, oranges, and yellows. She also enjoyed listening to music, such as 80’s rock, watching her comfort shows, “Friends” and “How I met your Mother”, and cooking, lately a healthy dish known as Quiche.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg. Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Steve Rigdon officiating. A memorial luncheon will be held following services. Memorials may be to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or to the family to help with funeral expenses.
