The Galesburg Public Library Foundation has officially partnered with the Galesburg Community Foundation to create nine permanent endowment funds that will provide long-term financial support for the Galesburg Public Library and the Library Foundation itself.
The move keeps the Library Foundation’s charitable resources managed locally while ensuring sustained funding for library programs, building maintenance, technology, collections, and educational initiatives for generations to come.
“This partnership helps secure the library’s future and reflects what Galesburg does best – coming together to invest in the community we share,” said Heather Sipes, executive director of the Galesburg Public Library Foundation.
One of the new endowments is designated specifically for the general operations of the Library Foundation, with the remaining eight funds targeted to specific library needs and programs previously supported by generous donors.
“Our Foundation has been fortunate to have extraordinary donors with the foresight to invest in our community library,” said Sue Dutell, president of the Galesburg Public Library Foundation. “They have left a legacy to continue supporting our programs and services. The funds we have been stewarding for many years will now be managed locally, through Galesburg Community Foundation, allowing us to better secure resources for the future. We are very excited for this new chapter.”

The Galesburg Public Library Foundation was established in 2007 to raise private funds that enhance library services beyond what tax dollars can provide. The Galesburg Community Foundation, serving Knox, Warren, and Henderson Counties, partners with donors and nonprofits to maximize community impact through permanent endowment funds.
