Brian Elliott

Longtime Monmouth resident and community leader Brian D. “Doc” Elliott has died at the age of 67.

Elliott died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, at Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg.

Elliott spent nearly four decades serving Warren County in a variety of roles. After graduating from Roseville High School in 1976 and earning a history degree from Monmouth College in 1984, he jumped straight into the community.

He managed the Filling Station in Monmouth, taught 6th grade in Alexis, and worked part-time at the Monmouth American Legion — all in the mid-1980s. From 1995 to 1998 he served as Executive Vice President of the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and was named Businessman of the Year.

For more than 20 years, Elliott handled newspaper circulation for the Monmouth Daily Review Atlas, Galesburg Register-Mail, Peoria Journal Star, Burlington Hawkeye, Macomb Journal, and papers in Ohio, Kansas, and North Carolina. In his later years he became a substitute teacher across the Monmouth-Roseville and United school districts, retiring in 2023.

A lifelong member of First Lutheran Church and a Monmouth College ATO alumnus and fraternity brother, he was a regular at Living Windows, local car shows, and his grandchildren’s events.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, both at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth.
