
Major Marte Lynn Glass, U.S. Army Retired, of Galesburg, a registered nurse who served patients in intensive care, on LifeFlight helicopters, in homes and schools, and for more than 26 years in the Army Reserve, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was 72.
Major Glass was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash Nov. 22 on South Lake Storey Road in Galesburg.

A Galesburg native, she graduated from Knoxville High School in 1971, earned her nursing diploma in 1974, and later completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She worked in the ICU and coronary care unit at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, as a LifeFlight nurse, in home health care, at OSF Holy Family in Monmouth, and as school nurse for Galesburg District 205. She played a key role in establishing the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. In recent years she taught aquafit classes and worked as a lifeguard at the Hawthorne municipal pool.
Visitation is 9–11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Military honors will be accorded, followed by burial at Terpening Cemetery.
