
With 2-5 inches of snow expected Thursday afternoon into Friday and bitter cold forecast for the weekend, the City of Galesburg has declared a snow emergency effective 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11.
Parking is prohibited on all city streets (except the central business district) until streets are cleared. Vehicles left on streets will be ticketed and towed.
Crews will begin treating roads this afternoon and plowing when accumulation reaches 2 inches.
Even colder air arrives Saturday: an 80% chance of 3-5 more inches of snow, highs near 3°, overnight lows around -10°, and wind chills as low as -25 to -30° Saturday night into Sunday morning.

- Knox County Housing Authority Shelter – 525/527 Iowa Court (24 hours)
- Galesburg Public Safety Building – 150 S. Broad St. (24 hours)
- YMCA Lobby – 1324 W. Carl Sandburg Drive (Sat 6 a.m.–5 p.m., Sun 10 a.m.–5 p.m.)
- Williamsfield Fire Station – 200 E. Gale St. (Sat & Sun 24 hours)
