Ruth L. Gosney, 80, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, in Monmouth.
Ruth was born June 23, 1945, in Monmouth, the daughter of Rex and Dorothy (Rittenhouse) Bivens. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School and later Carl Sandburg College with a degree in nursing.
She married Phil Gosney in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Oct. 23, 1964, and he passed away Nov. 25, 2002.
She worked at several area nursing homes as a nurse.
Ruth enjoyed gardening, plants, and gambling. She had a deep love of pets.
Survivors include her daughters, Daphne Hedges and Yvonne (Mike) Chenault; her brother, Terry Bivens; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marquita Gosney; grandson, Josh Hedges; and siblings, Peggy Butler and Stanley Bivens.
