Harry E. Fox Sr.

Mr. Harry E. Fox Sr., 90, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 10:48 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Harry was born June 12, 1935, in Knoxville, Illinois, to Charles Nelson and Helen Theresa (Morrisey) Fox. He married Beverly McGraw in 1957 in Galesburg. He later married Linda DeJaynes on April 11, 1970, in Galesburg.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Linda Fox of Galesburg; three sons, Michael “Rooster” (and Deb) Fox of Abingdon, Illinois, Mark Fox of Abingdon, and Harry “Harrison” Fox Jr., of East Galesburg; three daughters, Kathy (and Richard) Rainey of Brandon, Florida, Joyce Homer of Galesburg, and Susan Fox of Galesburg; one brother, David Fox of Washington; 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Nelson Fox; his stepfather, Robert “Gibb” Larson; his mother, Helen Teresa Larson; four brothers, Ronny Fox, Howard Fox, Charles Fox, and his twin brother, Sam Fox; three sisters, Dorothy Lockwood, Helen Wiedenhamer, and Nellie Daugherty; and a great-grandson, Malachie Fox.

Harry attended Knoxville schools. He worked as a brakeman for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1995. Always active, he held several other jobs throughout his life, including working at the East Galesburg Brickyard, Northgate Bowling Alley, Luckyboy Bakery, Hansen Lumber Company, installing antennas with Don Dunn, serving as caretaker of Herman Cemetery, and painting houses.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Galesburg. Harry enjoyed fishing and hunting deer, squirrel, and rabbits. A skilled handyman and mechanic, he loved tinkering and working with his hands. He was also very creative and enjoyed making art with chalk, pencil, and paint. Above all, Harry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man who will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the chapel with Pastor Curt Lipe officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
