Sudzy’s Laundromat is now open at 1134 N. Henderson St. in Galesburg, with the adjacent Precision Touchless Car Wash set to debut Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The laundromat welcomed its first customers Saturday, Dec. 27. Owner Rob Benedict of Benedict Holdings said the name Sudzy’s pays homage to a historic Galesburg laundromat for its nostalgic appeal.
Open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, Sudzy’s is fully cashless with an attendant on duty. It features 6 100-pound washers, 12 40-pound washers, 10 20-pound washers, and 34 dryers – all new Speed Queen equipment. Benedict noted the 100-pound machines are unique to Galesburg and ideal for large items like comforters.
The laundromat has a lounge atmosphere with coffee tables for customers to set up laptops or enjoy coffee while waiting. Wash-and-fold service is available by the pound with same-day turnaround. General manager Shelley Creel, with four years of laundromat experience, assists customers.
Benedict said the project fills a need identified by a Speed Queen demographic study and called opening day a “weight lifted” after a long build process.

The Precision Touchless Car Wash will operate 24 hours a day starting Tuesday (mid-afternoon after final adjustments). It can handle vehicles up to 9 feet 10 inches tall and 22 feet long, including dual-wheel trucks.
Features include high-pressure hot water, ceramic coating option, and 125-horsepower blowers for drying. Four free vacuum stations are provided.
Monthly unlimited passes are available for all three wash levels (good, better, and best, with ceramic coating on the top tier). Passes can be purchased or canceled at the pay station, which reads license plates. Bundle deals, offering a free wash after buying a set number, are also available.
Customers enter from Henderson Street and can exit to Olive Street behind the building or turn around and return to Henderson via the adjacent Pizza Hut parking lot.
The facility is owned by Benedict Holdings – Rob Benedict and his sons Trent, Adam, and Blake.
