Rebecca Ann Bowton

Rebecca Ann Bowton, 76, of Galesburg died peacefully with her family by her side Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.

Becky was born June 5, 1949, in Galesburg, the daughter of Carl William and Velma Marie (Delawder) Theobald. She married Kent E. Bowton on July 22, 1967, in Galesburg.

Becky is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kent of Galesburg; two sons, Britt Bowton of Galesburg and Eric (Niki) Bowton of Galesburg; one daughter, Cathy Bowton of Galesburg; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Becky is also survived by one brother, Ronald (Darlys) Theobald of Cameron; three nieces; and three nephews.

Along with her parents, Becky was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Theobald; and one brother, Frank Theobald.

In her early working years, Becky worked at Arlen’s and W.T. Grant, both in Galesburg, before a 22-year career at Wal-Mart. Becky retired May 16, 2007.

In her free time, Becky enjoyed crafts, shopping throughout the Scenic Drive and helping others as often as she could. She had a kind, loving, caring and giving heart. Becky never let her disability define her or slow her down. Most of all, Becky loved spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.
