Galesburg police arrested a suspect early Monday after a robbery at Beck’s gas station on East Main Street.
Maxwell Burton, 29, of Galesburg was charged with robbery after allegedly entering the station at 1581 E. Main St., about 2:20 a.m. wearing a mask and demanding money from the employee.
The employee complied, and Burton left with cash and other items, according to police.
Officers searched the area and found Burton a couple of blocks away. Items of evidentiary value were located on him, leading to his arrest.
Burton was transported to the Knox County Jail awaiting court proceedings.
The Galesburg Police Department was assisted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
