Rosetta A. Farris, 70, of Galesburg died at 10:46 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born Nov. 8, 1955, in Galesburg, the daughter of Richard E. and Josephine A. (Stinson) Holman. She married William “Hank” Farris on March 16, 1996, in Cameron.
Surviving Rosetta is her husband, Hank Farris of Galesburg; two daughters, Amanda (Court Beghtol) Kirby of Galesburg and Jessica (Shane Sutton) Kirby of Altona; three grandchildren, Asa, Waylon and Norah; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Raymond (Cheryl) Holman of Salem, Kentucky, and Russell Holman of Victoria; and mother-in-law, Marietta Farris of Blandinsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law John Farris.
Rosetta worked at Galesburg State Research Hospital caring for patients, then at Zellers Mental Health Center in Peoria, and later as a sergeant at Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg, supervising departments before retiring from the state of Illinois. She was a member of AFSCME Union.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching them play music and sports. She enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels in her yard and time with her dog Lucy.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Oneida. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at the funeral home in Oneida. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Altona.
