Galesburg man faces charges in McDonough County child sex assault case

A Galesburg man has been charged following a months-long investigation into allegations of inappropriately touching, grooming, and molesting juveniles in and outside his household.

The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest warrant on Wednesday for Jeremy Lee Sholl, 43, of Galesburg. The warrant, case number 26-CF-24, includes two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and two counts of criminal sexual assault.

Sheriff Nicholas Petitgout said detectives recovered digital evidence and conducted numerous victim interviews with assistance from the Child Advocacy Center. The investigation involved collaboration with Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations and the McDonough County State’s Attorney’s Office.
