James ‘Jim’ H. Jackson

Mr. James “Jim” H. Jackson, 70, formerly of Abingdon, Illinois, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Allure of Lake Storey.

Jim was born January 1, 1956, in Quincy, the son of George E. and Betty Pauline (Vaughn) Jackson. He grew up in the area and spent most of his life in the Abingdon and Galesburg communities.

He was employed at Abingdon Salvage Company for more than eight years. Jim was known for being handy and enjoyed spending time tinkering on cars and working on small projects. In his spare time, he took pride in caring for his yard and keeping busy outdoors. He also had a love for old western movies.

He is survived by two brothers, David Jackson and George Jackson, both of Galesburg; and four sisters, Rosemary (Mark) Riley, Sharon (Michael) Johnson, Betty Ann (Doug) Beaty, and Joyce Wheeler, all of Galesburg. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel, with services to follow at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
