Alis Ann Chy, 82, of Monmouth, Illinois, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Allure of Lake Storey, Galesburg, Illinois.
Alis was born on January 14, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Alfred Ward and Mildred Watt (Bickett) Creswell. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School. She then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin. In college, Alis was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
Alis married Michael Ronald Chy on June 18, 1966, in Monmouth.
Alis cared for others as a social worker and home health care worker throughout her adult life. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth.
Survivors include her children, her daughter Julie (Christopher) Toth, and her son, James (Stacy) Chy; six grandchildren, Angela Griffith, Vincent Toth, Billy Chy, Rylee Toth, Emily Toth, and Sarah Chy; her brother, John Ward (Mariko) Creswell; her cousin/sister, Jane (Buster) Kellogg; and her cousin/brother, John Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Michael Ronald Chy; her significant other, William Thompson; her sister, Carolbel Peters; her uncle, James Marshall; and her aunt, Isabel Marshall.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2026, at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth, Illinois. No visitation hours are planned.
