Joyce L. Johnson, 92, of Oneida, Illinois, died at 8:57 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at her home in Henderson, Illinois.
She was born on November 5, 1933, in Avon, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Leonard and Goldie (Chance) Carr. She married Charles D. “Swede” Johnson on September 10, 1950, at the Altona Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2013.
She assisted her husband in his business, took care of her family, babysat, and even helped out with grooming the horses. She enjoyed card playing and being with her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Connie Orwig of Henderson, Illinois, and Vickie C. Dumse of Mesa, Arizona; four grandchildren, Jodi Stevenson of Henderson, Illinois, Cori (Joe) Thompson of Galesburg, Illinois, Michael (Isela) Dumse of Mesa, Arizona, and Eric Dumse of Mesa, Arizona; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Gott of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Janet (Joe) Kelly of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and one brother, Stanley (Becky) Carr of Oneida, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, and brothers and sisters.
Private graveside service will be held at the Oneida Cemetery on Monday, April 6, 2026. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois.
