A potential chickenpox case at Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg has prompted the suspension of visits to two housing units.
Effective Wednesday, May 13, all visits with people housed in units 3A and 3B were suspended until further notice, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections. Residents in all other housing units may receive visits as usual, provided they show no symptoms that would warrant quarantine.
IDOC says the precautions are essential to protecting the health and well-being of everyone who lives and works within the facility.
IDOC’s Office of Health Services is monitoring the situation and implementing health and safety protocols to limit any potential spread.
