Shirley Ann Carrico, 80, of Knoxville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 1:37 a.m. at Knox County Nursing Home.
She was born on July 22, 1945, in Princeville, Illinois, the daughter of Aaron L. and Evelyn (Blundy) German. She married George “Mat” Carrico on November 25, 1996, in Williamsfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2006.
Shirley is survived by her nieces; Ashley (Bob Fox) German of Knoxville, Illinois, Michelle German of Farmington, Illinois, Kasi (Brandon) Landon of Altona, Illinois; her great-nieces and nephews; Alivia, Zoey, Ayden, Raelyn, and Parker; and her brother; Mark German of Elmwood, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Shirley graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1963, and went on to WIU and Browns Business College. She worked at F/S Elevator and at the Animal Research Lab before working as a Data Import Operator for the State of Illinois. In her free time Shirley enjoyed reading, crafting, flower gardening and riding her motorcycle.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held at the Knoxville American Legion following the services from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be made out to the Knox County Humane Society or to Best Friends Animal Society.
